“A gloomy Odesa railway station, the first dandelion in Dnipro, the face of a beloved in an extreme close-up. A song, a cat, a parent’s garden that may soon be ours. A football field in Lviv that tells the story of home back in occupied Crimea. The same camera that used to be reserved to images of perfect familial life in Ukrainian 1990s-2000s, in this film turns its gaze to the wartime everyday life.
To Those Who Pass and Those Who Stay is a short experimental documentary film made out of home videos, a practice found in archives reenacted in present time. As part of a research and making program, seven participants look at themselves and their ordinary lives in different cities and contexts in Ukraine. But they also look at each other, their imagined future viewers and to those who made home videos before them...”.

Referencing eclectic handwriting on VHS / DV cassete labels, the typographic treatment of the film combines a variety
of cases and writing styles.

Images blur and fragment; individual symbols blend into each other,  reflecting the form of “...a collective diary or a letter addressed to those who live through the war and those who are no longer with us”.
